JEUNESSES MUSICALES
ESTONIA
The Non-Profit Organisation Musical Youth in Estonia
Since 1991 Estonians have participated on a fairly regular basis in the tours undertaken by the World Orchestra and World Choir.
Since 1995 Estonia is a member of the FIJM.
Our youth have participated in other events in addition to the sessions of the orchestra and choir. In 1996 our young musicians participated in the chamber music summer course in Weikersheim, in 1998 in the festival in Malmö, in 2003 in the ethno music camp in Sweden and so on. Many of the musicians that have participated in the given events play an important role in the musical life of Estonia: Henry-David Varema, Sigrid Kuulmann, Jaanika Lentsius, Mikk Üleoja, Mihkel Kütson, Ivo Lille, Raul Seppel etc.
In 1991 Estonia hosted the World Orchestra and in 1996 Estonia hosted the World Choir.
In 2003 the concert agency Jeunesses Musicales Estonia was founded. It is the only agency in Estonia which devotes most of its activity to introducing young singers and instrumentalists.
In 2004 JM Estonia participated in the international programme ExTEND which aimed to determine a common conception of musical practices and needs among the youth of the member countries.
